Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone!

Back from much needed vacations, I had some time to reflect back on the body of work done in 2011 in the Microsoft Dynamics GP community. The truth is, it was very hectic, with the Tech Conference 2011 in Fargo, Convergence 2011 Atlanta, Decisions Spring and Fall editions, and the GPUG Summit in Las Vegas, not to mention 158 articles on this blog along with the comments I received (plus 365000 hits!), thousands of Partner Technical Forum posts, my new YouTube channel, and much, much more.

As you can imagine, that kind of effort is represented and supported by hundreds and hundreds of hours, which are very hard to carve out with a full-time job and family activities. However, it makes it all the more rewarding.

Starting anew in 2012 makes me think about how difficult it will be to surpass what I did last year, but as I always say, I love a challenge when I see one! I'm already booked for Convergence 2012 Houston, Decisions Spring 2012, GPUG Summit 2012 Seattle, and Decisions Fall 2012, and as you can imagine, preparation is already on the way for these events... and really, I want to finish my book. I know, this is a missing item on my community resume.

Anyways, it's time to start working on all these goals, so let's see how I fare this time around next year.

Merry Christmas from The Dynamics GP Blogster and Family

Couple days ago, I blogged about some of the top articles I wrote this past year. Today, I am in Discovery Bay (an hour away from crowded Montego Bay), Jamaica enjoying the holiday season with family and friends and looking forward to get some rest.

Happy New Year!

So last year -- yes, last year! Get used to saying it! -- I told you that a popular New Year's eve tradition is to set forth a bunch of resolutions for the incoming year. The number one goal I had set for last year was to increase readership to this site and all other outlets where you can find The Dynamics GP Blogster. Thanks to all of you, the site readership and visits increased 2.5-fold. This is a snapshot of traffic taken on December 22, a week before 2010 was over:

So now that I have your attention, what do I want for this year? Nothing more than your commitment to continue visiting this site and spreading the word. Now you have many ways to reach me: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and even the Community 2.0 website - all links on the right frame. You also have one more tool: my QR code (more on this later). The more I know what you read and like, the better content I can produce (focused topics, workshops, series, technical articles, conference materials, etc). So I ask you, please don't keep this site a secret, just put in a word for this site, become a fan on Facebook, post your comments.

I know you follow me, I know you like what you read on this site (and sometimes not), I know you stay tuned, but think of the benefits others in your professional community could receive from the same information you get here. Happy New Year!

A fairly popular New Year's eve tradition is to define a list of resolutions for the incoming year. These resolutions become goals that you try very hard to achieve throughout the year in course. Comes year-end, you evaluate what happened, you praise the hits, and complain about the missed resolutions. You slip some of those unachieved goals into next year's resolutions, and the cycle starts all over again.

The one issue I see with New Year's resolutions is, a lot of us tend to just set way too many! The consequence? Lots of frustrations at the end of the year. So, with this in mind I have adopted a new strategy: have one single New Year's resolution that will drive a number of other initiatives.

So here is my one single New Year's resolution: increase readership to this site and all other outlets where you can find The Dynamics GP Blogster. So here is where you come in! In order to accomplish this one goal and all initiatives that derive from it I need your help: a) please keep reading my articles and sending in your comments, and b) spread the word!

How do these two seemingly simple requests help my initiatives? Very simple! If you keep reading and spreading the word, a) it will be a lot easier for the entire Microsoft Dynamics GP Community to find key pieces of information that makes their lives as easy as yours have become by reading this site, b) it will increase the adoption rate of Dynamics GP. The more users know about all the help outside of CustomerSource and PartnerSource, the less apprehensive they will be towards learning GP, and last but not least, c) it will allow me to continue helping the Community. See, the more I know what people are reading, the better I can address their needs (focused topics, workshops, series, etc). In addition, it increases my chances of coming to a place near you. One of the reasons I made it to the Microsoft Dynamics GP Technical Conference 2009 was due to a fairly successful campaign reaching out to you through various technical articles.

I know you follow me, I know you like (and sometimes dislike, but that ok too) what you read on this site, I know you stay tuned, but think of the benefits others could receive from the same information you get here. So, the next time you speak to your peers or colleagues just mention this site. It takes two seconds and it goes one step more to achieve my New Year's resolution.

Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! Happy Kwanzaa! Happy Al-Hijira!

Best wishes throughout the Holiday season in company of your friends and family from The Dynamics GP Blogster. Once again, thanks for all your support and comments throughout the year and for confirming what I always knew: the more information you have, the better you can perform your job. That's the objective of this blog and the reason I strive to deliver a variety of information and topics always revolving around Dynamics GP.

2010 will sure bring exciting stuff! We have the long awaited GP "11" release coming out, the new Microsoft Office 2010, incredible features being delivered in Microsoft SharePoint 2010, the new and spectacular, feature-rich Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, the promising Power Pivot, and last but not lease, the new Microsoft SQL Server 2010.

To accompany this array of applications and tools, we have spectacular events like Convergence, right in my backyard here in Atlanta. In addition, and as most of you already know, my first book will also be available around the August 2010 timeframe.

As you can see, all this should keep this humble author busy just as much as it will keep you coming back for more.
